During our monthly theme parties we hold collection drives for various charities and organizations. This includes collecting non-perishable food goods, money donations and wrapped gifts for children during the Holiday season.
The Learner's Lending Library serves two functions at our school. Firstly, our teachers often conduct part of their classes in this library as it has an extensive list of children's books and resource materials. It has been designed to offer the students a safe and comfortable environment that encourages reading and reading exploration. Secondly, the Learner's Lending Library allows students to borrow books, allowing them to read the books at home with their family and friends. This is a great opportunity for these students to practice their reading skills and demonstrate their improving English abilities at home.
At the end of each term our teachers will offer parents an opportunity to meet with them. This is a chance for parents and teachers to raise any concerns regarding a student's behaviour in the classroom. Although this time is specifically set aside at the end of the term, we encourage parents to speak to our teachers whenever they have a question or concern.
Our class maximum class size is twelve students per class. We feel that this number allows teachers to ensure that each student receives the amount of care and consideration they require. Moreover, this provides students with an opportunity to interact with a number of classmates. This interaction involves group and pair work allowing students to practice their English with their peers as opposed to always speaking to the teacher one at a time. The interaction with classmates helps students not only develop their English, but improves their overall socialization and conversational skills.
